We transformed a classic California bungalow, once segmented into small, dark rooms, into a generous, light-filled family home. The brief required the space to be disabled-friendly for futureproofing without appearing clinical. To achieve this, we widened doorways and created generous circulation spaces, utilising traditional wainscoting and herringbone oak floors to subtly mark thresholds. The result is a home that feels traditional in its bones but completely “now” in its breath. By ensuring every major room turns its shoulder to the pool, we created a seamless, sophisticated, and intentional flow.
